Tarrant County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of 2007, it had a population of 1,717,435. Its county seat is Fort Worth.[1] Tarrant County is the sixteenth most populous county in the United States and the third most populous in Texas. The county is named in honor of General Edward H. Tarrant of the Republic of Texas Militia.[2]
Fort Worth is the most populous city in Tarrant County, seventeenth largest in the U.S., with a population of 653,320 as of 2006.[3] Arlington is the second largest city in the county with a population of 367,197 in 2006 and North Richland Hills is the third largest with 65,750 residents as of 2006.
