The Polish people, or Poles (Polish: Polacy [pɔˈlat͡sɨ], singular Polak) are an nation indigenous to Poland. They are bonded by the Polish language, which belongs to the Lechitic subgroup of West Slavic languages of Central Europe. A wide-ranging Polish diaspora exists throughout Western and Eastern Europe, the Americas and Australia. Polish citizens live predominantly in Poland. The city of Chicago has the world's second largest population of Polish people, after Poland.
